Here is the final Golgo Island miniature that I based and primed with the group featured in my last post: Kronos 2000x. (He's found in the Streetfighters II pack.)
The Golgo Island rules and miniatures are inspired by b-movies, and despite a different looking "official" paint job, I got a Billy Blanks circa the late 80s/early 90s vibe from this figure. So that's how I painted it. My feelings were confirmed, when after finishing the figure, I watched the Billy Blanks movie, TC 2000.
What's interesting is that watching the movie made me realize that Mouloud Nagasaki from my last post was clearly inspired by the film's villain, Niki Picasso, played by Jalal Merhi. I had no idea.
Fun stuff, but that's it for Golgo Island figs for the time being. Stay tuned.

Golgo Island City Scum Part 3
I've finished the fourth and final figure from the Golgo Island City Scum pack, Mouloud Nagasaki.
I also managed to paint up this little figure, Safari Kirk, also from Golgo Island. He's a pretty crudely sculpted and strangely short figure, but I figured he might be a good character to confront my Sleestaks or Apemen at some point. Meh.
Not sure why I went with a blue beret. Maybe I was thinking of this?
Anyway, here's the whole group all together.

I've got one more Golgo Island dystopian-future-streetfighter-type figure based and primed that I'll be painting next and after that, probably something totally different from the lead pile, who knows? Stay tuned.

Golgo Island City Scum Part 2
Here is another figure from the Golgo Island City Scum pack that I started in my last post. The official name for this character is Ogami Cartman. He looks a bit less post-apocalyptic than the last two but that's fine.
As I painted him I thought of him wearing an old sheepskin-lined denim jacket. Kinda like this one:
I'm mostly happy with him, and will be posting the last figure from the pack soon. Stay tuned.

Post Apocalypse Thugs - aka Golgo Island City Scum part 1
Painted two post-apocalypse-looking thugs, who are actually Gaylord Matteoti and Rolf Jaxxon, from the Golgo Island City Scum Pack.
Here is Gaylord...
And Rolf...
I'll be painting up the other two lawless scumbags from the pack for my next post. Stay Tuned!

I tried to give him "crazy eyes."

Grenadier Umber Ripper / Mirliton Tasmania Devil
For this update, I present Grenadier's Umber Ripper (MM87 from their Monster Manuscript line from the mid 80s,) which is currently still available from Mirliton Miniatures but is listed as "Tasmania Devil."
I went with a mostly naturalistic color scheme, although his tongue was highlighted with a florescent pink. I somewhat regret this color scheme now though, as I think it might be interesting to see this figure painted in some really wild colors. Maybe on flaming base.
Overall, a fun and relatively fast figure to paint. Thanks for stopping by, and stay tuned for more.

Umbelliferan Carrot Man
Hey, hey, this month I bring you the Umbelliferan Carrot Man.
I picked up this figure from Roebeast's Magical House of Sunshine blog. He has also made it an add-on for both of his Trash Bash Bits kickstarters. The second of which is ending soon.
Definitely a fun miniature! Seems perfect for Gamma World or a not-very-serious sci-fi game.
I've got several minis based, primed, and ready to go on my painting table, so I hope to be back soon...

Solomon Kane - Ral Partha Puritan Adventurer With Sword
Been away too long, but I'm back with a vintage mini from 1979: Ral Partha's Puritan Adventurer With Sword, sculpted by Dennis Mize, and clearly inspired by Solomon Kane.
With a limited color palette, it painted up quickly. I'm fairly happy with the face considering how small it is and how hard it was to get to with a brush because of the rim of the hat.
My plan to post at least once per calendar month has not changed...I just failed to do so over the last couple of months. I hope to post again soon though. Stay tuned.

TAG Industries Chimps and Apes -Finished
Here are the Chimp and Ape miniatures, featured in my last two posts, now fully painted. These have been in my collection for literally decades, so it's pretty nice to have them finally painted up.
The Apes:
The Chimps:
And because Allison of Painting Agency fame begged me to do it.....
I made a 2001 style monolith (out of green stuff and a piece of balsa wood) for these guys to run around. Ha.

TAG Industries Chimps and Apes in Progress
I then primed them in brown to make them a little faster to paint up. Expect to see more soon.

TAG Industries Chimps and Apes
Unfortunately, I don't have any painted minis to show this month, but I thought I would share what I'm painting next: some apes and chimps from TAG Industries' Children of Fantasy Line. These minis are from the early to mid 80s and have been in my collection and have remained unpainted since that time. It would appear that they are fairly rare as I haven't found any pictures of them on the internet other than those on the Lost Minis Wiki, and some of those pictures, I provided. (I know that at some point Raven's Forge Casting bought the TAG Industries lines but I'm not sure how many figures they produced and they appear to no longer exist.) I'm also unsure how they were sold, but I'm assuming I purchased these as a set and not individually (or rather as a kid, talked my mom into buying for me. Ha.)
After years of sitting in my "lead mountain," I finally decided to paint these to use as a group of more war-like Pakuni for a Land of the Lost/Lost Civilization game. I figured they would go well with the Sleestaks I recently painted. They don't look all that much like the costumes/make-up from the show, but it won't matter, as I'll need something more threatening any way. You'll notice that the two figures on the ends have broken weapons that I will need to do something about.
Now to get these fixed up, based, and primed...

Here's Chaka, a Pakuni, for comparison if you are unfamiliar with the show.
Chimp with Spear-that needs fixing.
Ape with Club
Chimp with Axe
Ape with Rock- and I am assuming he used to have club

Ape Beating Chest
Now to get these fixed up, based, and primed...
