<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4b4i8-Sa9ZqMeMP7x9wLeBiY72QGgy4JBXWQF967AneQEGp3WYpxEzrokDndIQ1cbyw9fat98PAXgOeOFogaFnjxI-kA8GlwuiLCWzc65q4h7t27KI-Svis5shODsXzTWUe-VBeuUYDs/s1600/roseanddoctor.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="540" data-original-width="739" height="291" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4b4i8-Sa9ZqMeMP7x9wLeBiY72QGgy4JBXWQF967AneQEGp3WYpxEzrokDndIQ1cbyw9fat98PAXgOeOFogaFnjxI-kA8GlwuiLCWzc65q4h7t27KI-Svis5shODsXzTWUe-VBeuUYDs/s400/roseanddoctor.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
First is Warlord Games' Rose Tyler from the <a href="https://doctorwhotimevortex.com/collections/all-doctor-who-products/products/10th-doctor-and-companion-set">Tenth Doctor and Companions set</a>. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3bs6kQddXSJ2f5tSktSfsR85W0Yzt70jd6WJfjoOMoplSlRIsamzvYcpOWzvNoAXvVqt19RXWPyBKPKorzJkwB5oZEVlpViDvd4mcFrANCWJKco9ULDhB8O7WYjKMQBUB0MSXgMhnW_s/s1600/rose.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="540" data-original-width="389" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3bs6kQddXSJ2f5tSktSfsR85W0Yzt70jd6WJfjoOMoplSlRIsamzvYcpOWzvNoAXvVqt19RXWPyBKPKorzJkwB5oZEVlpViDvd4mcFrANCWJKco9ULDhB8O7WYjKMQBUB0MSXgMhnW_s/s400/rose.jpg" width="287" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiU25Y08hhP3-uOYG0oE0YgdVy61G1_UagkCBRAx3fxNGMzeMtdxyhyphenhyphenO_qfEvpj5Jh0Zuu9WOpj_14usiSqaJqReYVzl2QcZ_5kf_x-fq9-RyZQRoJUf9rWSQOnq-W_PFWiNqgbwsB4SE8/s1600/rose+back.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="540" data-original-width="400" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiU25Y08hhP3-uOYG0oE0YgdVy61G1_UagkCBRAx3fxNGMzeMtdxyhyphenhyphenO_qfEvpj5Jh0Zuu9WOpj_14usiSqaJqReYVzl2QcZ_5kf_x-fq9-RyZQRoJUf9rWSQOnq-W_PFWiNqgbwsB4SE8/s400/rose+back.jpg" width="296" /></a></div>
<br />
The likeness on this sculpt is excellent, but like other figures in the line the lack of exaggeration makes the faces really difficult to paint. I left out some of the clothing details but based my color choices on this picture:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVVNSWAvPXKEtg0SHLk1QvoWKPusk3wIa1U5MaikYbRB5wTgKoX0P9QlyfNHHKm51XSWek3X22iNMcK6pj9HmVYfdU_2IJF0w5MY2kM7RuWPG4DlMdPnUOaJGqBuX73Huzw4xIKqGkmks/s1600/CAA273-1-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="800" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVVNSWAvPXKEtg0SHLk1QvoWKPusk3wIa1U5MaikYbRB5wTgKoX0P9QlyfNHHKm51XSWek3X22iNMcK6pj9HmVYfdU_2IJF0w5MY2kM7RuWPG4DlMdPnUOaJGqBuX73Huzw4xIKqGkmks/s320/CAA273-1-1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I also happened to have Crooked Dice's (no longer available for obvious reasons) Daisy Taylor figure, which is obviously based on Rose as well. So I went ahead and painted her up at the same time.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJ0h9HmgGHjOHgFrkL8BL3M5bCTaZngHSlrVTZwrlukiEHge1H7qCU87ER2QdbZ6TvaNSkyyQ9XHLHYYwqsDUNKxGtYvFXrWk7X64ppst8XJbK3uBbZYZ3AMMNfvWIY3iu2wzNm_TpBRo/s1600/daisy+taylor.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="540" data-original-width="417" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJ0h9HmgGHjOHgFrkL8BL3M5bCTaZngHSlrVTZwrlukiEHge1H7qCU87ER2QdbZ6TvaNSkyyQ9XHLHYYwqsDUNKxGtYvFXrWk7X64ppst8XJbK3uBbZYZ3AMMNfvWIY3iu2wzNm_TpBRo/s400/daisy+taylor.jpg" width="308" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhn1R2flH2So5EaxNoNh9f2JGIsLqmzMP_iyY4fGYAVa3XBiWdHHNVoyjBp9MBpvSAXP28fdAQY62xHNPP2lumLZ96X5xDBzRounkmInStU69QBqJoRo23ZJCbLjwf1o9XIS-ZUDux5yYM/s1600/daisytaylorback.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="540" data-original-width="421" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhn1R2flH2So5EaxNoNh9f2JGIsLqmzMP_iyY4fGYAVa3XBiWdHHNVoyjBp9MBpvSAXP28fdAQY62xHNPP2lumLZ96X5xDBzRounkmInStU69QBqJoRo23ZJCbLjwf1o9XIS-ZUDux5yYM/s400/daisytaylorback.jpg" width="311" /></a></div>
<br />
The likeness is not nearly as good, but the deeper details on the face made it much easier to paint. I decided that rather than have two figures with exactly the same clothes, I would base her colors on the outfit seen below.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEickVesB8NwWUj-8Pz8YzxBgMLjVAMCUsxUlo1VRKOqFXBo7qdrdhxTortws9f9iIu5ST5o8N_jNG1WuRhoGRqPyMu69wgJzszf6zQk-oxfozNCVmSb7erXlNyX8nxGEXMpRLBSn1IZkjs/s1600/billie-piper-gallery.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="650" data-original-width="400" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEickVesB8NwWUj-8Pz8YzxBgMLjVAMCUsxUlo1VRKOqFXBo7qdrdhxTortws9f9iIu5ST5o8N_jNG1WuRhoGRqPyMu69wgJzszf6zQk-oxfozNCVmSb7erXlNyX8nxGEXMpRLBSn1IZkjs/s320/billie-piper-gallery.jpg" width="196" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
If you've been paying attention, you'll know that I have one more companion to paint from this set, so that will likely be my next post. I've got a lot of other figures, Doctor Who-related and not-related, that I am itching to paint, so stay tuned!<br />

I took a Heroclix figure of Marvel Comics' Mankiller and painted her to look like a cheesy 1980s-era Soviet super soldier type of character.<br />

<br />
I'm relatively happy with my work on this one, although I find the faces on this line of figures difficult to paint for some reason that I can't quite put my finger on.<br />

This blog is not dead, it was just sleeping for a bit. Hoping to paint lots more minis in the new year.<br />
<br />
Anyway... I picked up the <a href="https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/256962/tanks-modern-age">Tanks: Modern Age Starter Set</a> and while I have yet to play the game, I couldn't resist building and painting the three 1/100 scale tanks that it comes with right away. I've never been into historical gaming (this game is actually an alternate history "cold war turned hot" setting) or military-fetishism, but I love tanks. I just think they look cool. It's that simple.<br />
<br />
These are the first tanks I have ever painted.<br />
<br />
Two Soviet T-64s:<br />

I'm actually really happy with how these turned out. I wasn't sure how the camouflage was going to look, but I think it turned out pretty decent. I can't wait to play the game now.<br />
<br />
As I mentioned in my last post, I have more Doctor Who figures and some random weirdness primed and ready to go. Hopefully, I will stop neglecting them and will be back with another post soon.xredmenacexhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05563256821189993925noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8784945416043068747.post-10330577719138653542018-08-30T17:52:00.000-04:002018-08-30T17:52:22.254-04:00Donna Noble miniatureWas hoping to get more done this month, but at least I can share one finished miniature: Doctor Who's companion, Donna Noble from Warlord Games' 38mm range of figures.<br />

No. But somehow I ended up with three and got the bright idea to just paint them all up at once.<br />

A while back I purchased Heresy's "Dr. Hugh," a 28-32mm "not"-version of David Tennant as the Doctor. (No longer available there as far as I can tell.) I like the body of this figure but the face is slightly exaggerated. He fits in nicely with my <a href="http://menaceminis.blogspot.com/2012/08/the-five-doctors.html">classic Doctors</a> though.<br />

<br />
Warlord Games has two official versions of the 10th Doctor currently available at approximately 38mm scale. This one is resin and was originally created for Gale Force 9's board game but is now available in <a href="https://doctorwhotimevortex.com/collections/all-doctor-who-products/products/first-fourth-and-tenth-doctors">a pack</a> with the first and fourth doctor. This figure is ok but the face is rough and not a good likeness in my opinion. (I can't bring myself to show a pic of it straight on.)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
The best of the three in my opinion is this one, cast in metal, from Warlord Games' "Tenth Doctor & Companions" <a href="https://doctorwhotimevortex.com/collections/all-doctor-who-products/products/10th-doctor-and-companion-set">pack</a>. The pose is pretty static but overall it is a very nice figure and a great likeness. I tried to do it justice. (Somehow the photo makes his eyebrows look more intense than they do in reality.)<br />

Finally, I also painted everyone's favorite robot dog, K-9. Great figure and I'm pretty happy with how he turned out. (Also from Warlord Games but as a promotional figure)<br />

<br />
That's it for now. I have more Doctor Who-related stuff to paint: companions, Sea Devils, Zygons, etc. but a bunch of other stuff is on my table as well, so stay tuned.<br />

This is Acheson Creations' <a href="https://achesoncreations.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&view=productdetails&virtuemart_product_id=1596&virtuemart_category_id=62">Large Olmec Head</a>. <br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfEIfnWo9wpKM3rjY9DNIgXnaWFuOc33qRVzSQPn6FLzCz9oyLyC0JGiUYCFZj_oVPPUxEnzfzHLwvgyAvGG6v93snxJDk6wOwBD8Yy6WIIFebt7AW_8J0njStP7zRMsOBw-gMTJ38L1w/s1600/olmec.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="648" data-original-width="540" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfEIfnWo9wpKM3rjY9DNIgXnaWFuOc33qRVzSQPn6FLzCz9oyLyC0JGiUYCFZj_oVPPUxEnzfzHLwvgyAvGG6v93snxJDk6wOwBD8Yy6WIIFebt7AW_8J0njStP7zRMsOBw-gMTJ38L1w/s400/olmec.jpg" width="332" /></a></div>
<br />
It was fun and quick to paint up and I think it will look great with some tropical terrain. I don't really have a specific gaming use for it, I just thought it was cool, and will find an excuse to use it at some point.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnPjYpCeDQQ1kqbF2X6CYsjd3lv9UAZwzFRlUjTy2Ui_8tVMiro0XD9YXgHQH0VOMOr4aHX7quPWyr9nsaE0J7mqQ6LTrsYbNXAKQ06pjcPEUKfcJpvQp_WNZJeKa_MZOwANK_R0tTSdw/s1600/olmec2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="614" data-original-width="720" height="340" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnPjYpCeDQQ1kqbF2X6CYsjd3lv9UAZwzFRlUjTy2Ui_8tVMiro0XD9YXgHQH0VOMOr4aHX7quPWyr9nsaE0J7mqQ6LTrsYbNXAKQ06pjcPEUKfcJpvQp_WNZJeKa_MZOwANK_R0tTSdw/s400/olmec2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
My other super quick piece is a re-based Heroclix figure of the Living Brain. I threw a wash on it and did some highlighting, and thought it looked kinda cool for a funky retro robot. Even though I am a huge comic book nerd, I know very little about the character this figure is based on. Just a fun miniature.<br />

<br />
For some reason I had an itch to paint some sort of classic fantasy knight, and I ended up going with Grenadier's #8130 Armoured Warrior from <a href="http://www.miniatures-workshop.com/lostminiswiki/index.php?title=Julie_Guthrie%27s_Personalities_II">Julie Guthrie's Fantasy Personalities II</a> line. <br />
<br />

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRo9IGDZ7XwzaGYx2pLuIgCrTvffsCxcmWNgkgOXALMx2BYD5UEQsc2owSluY5el-S0zLct7RDTLYsSVnILPVRfIkzpsLNUtoFdm0wttqZI8vXjzIDv5m5eE89yGOsWz3Bp-tHTWPCDjU/s1600/armoured+warrior.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="457" data-original-width="396" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRo9IGDZ7XwzaGYx2pLuIgCrTvffsCxcmWNgkgOXALMx2BYD5UEQsc2owSluY5el-S0zLct7RDTLYsSVnILPVRfIkzpsLNUtoFdm0wttqZI8vXjzIDv5m5eE89yGOsWz3Bp-tHTWPCDjU/s400/armoured+warrior.jpg" width="346" /></a></div>
<br />
I'm fairly happy with him, although he is a bit dark. This may be due to the fact that I primed him grey and not my usual white prime. I really like Julie Guthrie's work for Grenadier. Great line of figures in my opinion.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGFLCVceQjdZseQpU1ESK9gMstivv4YlrDQkmlvDoFthrPozyx2KCc2s8xkcUw9txTRmiJEZNKPeg8WJBlBRP_4t189jo50aPius_uGDboKMJX_m1neCiJvKBazTmNMPwAC_Tkvr0Jshw/s1600/armoured+warrior+back.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="562" data-original-width="396" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGFLCVceQjdZseQpU1ESK9gMstivv4YlrDQkmlvDoFthrPozyx2KCc2s8xkcUw9txTRmiJEZNKPeg8WJBlBRP_4t189jo50aPius_uGDboKMJX_m1neCiJvKBazTmNMPwAC_Tkvr0Jshw/s400/armoured+warrior+back.jpg" width="281" /></a></div>
<br />
I struggled with the freehand on the shield. I wanted it to look hand painted on wood, and I guess I achieved that, but it was tough painting on such a small surface. I've always been impressed by other painters' ability to paint amazing little shields and banners, but I usually avoid it myself.<br />
<br />
In my imagination he'll be part of an army with green, white, and brown heraldry, but in reality I am unlikely to fulfill that project, at least any time soon. There are plenty of other things filling up my painting queue though, so stay tuned.xredmenacexhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05563256821189993925noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8784945416043068747.post-44257744322597283902018-04-24T22:14:00.000-04:002018-04-24T22:14:06.196-04:00Terror of Shindig Sandbar<div style="text-align: center;">
This month I bring you the Terror of Shindig Sandbar, a miniature I got from <a href="http://roebeast.blogspot.com/2011/11/terror-of-shindig-sandbar-now-available.html">Roebeast</a> several years ago, and just got around to painting.</div>

This month I give you <a href="https://goblinkomegamall.com/collections/dungeon-degenerates">Dungeon Degenerates</a>' Hand of Doom.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is one of those minis that just looks way cooler in person. Sometimes you photograph a miniature and it just doesn't quite do it. Anyway, it was fun to paint, and I can't wait to play the game sometime soon.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I still have lots of Daleks to paint and no matter what I'm hoping to stick to my plan of at least one finished miniature a month. Stay tuned. </div>

<br />
So in 2017, I painted a grand total of 4 miniatures. Pathetic. However, I never stopped wanting to get back to the painting table. So here we are in 2018 and I'm hoping to get back to my very modest goal of posting a newly painted miniature at least once a month. <br />
<br />
For my first post of the year, I bring you a batch of Cybermen from <a href="https://doctorwhotimevortex.com/collections/rules-games/products/exterminate-in-to-the-time-vortex-game">Warlord Games' Exterminate!</a> (Into the Time Vortex) Doctor Who Miniatures Game. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Because there are 12 of these mechanical monstrosities, this was more of a speed-painting kind of thing than how I normally paint. I mostly play RPG and skirmish games, so I've never actually painted this many figures at once before. Anyway, they painted up quickly and I'm happy enough with them to move on to the Daleks which should be coming soon.</div>

This figure was probably my favorite in the set and the main impetus for purchasing these minis.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRy2gWwiMsZROWVrax7FjbkUvi6GToFJP1znmrTamAZdC5flGrzn1cEDNNRLC8sZ1lJf8s04GkHFloJGWk-wUqvj_Psqz5RfD-D5qDbt56iYqICKvkOxa98vCoIlw7mVpvAtcuaQyqodo/s1600/beastman1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="451" data-original-width="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRy2gWwiMsZROWVrax7FjbkUvi6GToFJP1znmrTamAZdC5flGrzn1cEDNNRLC8sZ1lJf8s04GkHFloJGWk-wUqvj_Psqz5RfD-D5qDbt56iYqICKvkOxa98vCoIlw7mVpvAtcuaQyqodo/s1600/beastman1.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsYeJjIy9T0ZcQ__HW80ZsQYp-4-bcpNFYIhQMZO33Gq5XroqSE701aGUz1GYUNsrctbhvl_wuqhDVs5avpeM-6KEyZ0Xg-Kdmu_kdecleI4WTNGL96s9bK-lIoh0BE43qUK-GXL0fvMs/s1600/beastman2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="469" data-original-width="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsYeJjIy9T0ZcQ__HW80ZsQYp-4-bcpNFYIhQMZO33Gq5XroqSE701aGUz1GYUNsrctbhvl_wuqhDVs5avpeM-6KEyZ0Xg-Kdmu_kdecleI4WTNGL96s9bK-lIoh0BE43qUK-GXL0fvMs/s1600/beastman2.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
His design strongly reminded me of Beastman from He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, which I assume was intentional. So Beastman's color scheme was what I tried to replicate here.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgb2F_256GKSkDatnouqzN3Eft9m5nAboVxp015MO7hYBqSLyxTFo6pziMQjxc-sKcMzVqyCgc9uro3i0McQ6XPyukeGeaoDuOaBjlZKUchAzjaMH3pYPMcUWSDyXOSXklk4LtYwzXMgMk/s1600/jouster-4475-beastman.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="305" data-original-width="305" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgb2F_256GKSkDatnouqzN3Eft9m5nAboVxp015MO7hYBqSLyxTFo6pziMQjxc-sKcMzVqyCgc9uro3i0McQ6XPyukeGeaoDuOaBjlZKUchAzjaMH3pYPMcUWSDyXOSXklk4LtYwzXMgMk/s1600/jouster-4475-beastman.png" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Here's a shot of the Brute Lord with Reaper's Mr Bones that I gave a Skeletor-ish color scheme a while back.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZGcke076uvkEwsKftFIfms5xzpuKeT7mZVFxcMw6Tyr3ffGeKfPMyPmiIbDwBLfU974WVvFMraiidM2TfTS1HamFea45eKTDw_s9hqZ92zdgErJx8zXrspTM-D-XjdWY4gFLpvZ13hyI/s1600/withskeletor.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="563" data-original-width="675" height="333" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZGcke076uvkEwsKftFIfms5xzpuKeT7mZVFxcMw6Tyr3ffGeKfPMyPmiIbDwBLfU974WVvFMraiidM2TfTS1HamFea45eKTDw_s9hqZ92zdgErJx8zXrspTM-D-XjdWY4gFLpvZ13hyI/s400/withskeletor.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>

I have painted the next of the Dungeon Degenerates <a href="https://goblinkomegamall.com/collections/dungeon-degenerates/products/dungeon-degenerates-monster-miniatures-set">figures</a>, the Nasty Naga. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9Ble0r55awX3OusMxfnsIZ41lOgE4RuM7PztGgTgVj_kB8Fbq-qWk6PiO2ORdb3JNpsVRxtKmoRWLO00YB9uQ3GgVRvkXaYgwABdrRY1m8SNYowDYQ4BXDLERBsGCqfNOpgO7U_flRYo/s1600/naga+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="539" data-original-width="360" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9Ble0r55awX3OusMxfnsIZ41lOgE4RuM7PztGgTgVj_kB8Fbq-qWk6PiO2ORdb3JNpsVRxtKmoRWLO00YB9uQ3GgVRvkXaYgwABdrRY1m8SNYowDYQ4BXDLERBsGCqfNOpgO7U_flRYo/s400/naga+1.jpg" width="267" /></a></div>
<br />
I imagined it as a Dark Naga when I came up with its color scheme. It was hard to photograph and is one of those minis that just looks better in real life than in a photo for whatever reason. It was a fun and easy to paint figure though.<br />
<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJGDMYqdeMpB5voSBroeki3-wux-CCVhDV0IYAH5H359YACQRs6lHgcoaVL4TlJ0DtvcEYwh3qZ6dKxk3UKZr6Ni8knkg6EnKX4p7DoTh_BVgXlZzyf7Z-dZN9PPCNFoRumuDYB5JK4kE/s1600/Fuzzy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="330" data-original-width="264" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJGDMYqdeMpB5voSBroeki3-wux-CCVhDV0IYAH5H359YACQRs6lHgcoaVL4TlJ0DtvcEYwh3qZ6dKxk3UKZr6Ni8knkg6EnKX4p7DoTh_BVgXlZzyf7Z-dZN9PPCNFoRumuDYB5JK4kE/s1600/Fuzzy.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
At the time I wondered: "It's interesting because if you know anything about these minis, you'll
know that many of them are rip-offs of Star Wars characters. For
example, "Hans Self" instead of Han Solo etc etc. I always assumed that
this one was supposed to be an Ewok, but if I'm not mistaken this
figure actually dates to around 1977 and as far as I know Ewok's did not
appear until Return of the Jedi in 1983. So I guess not."<br />
<br />
Then today I saw a book cover illustration that cleared it all up. This miniature was clearly based on the following illustration of H. Beam Piper's book, <u>Little Fuzzy</u>.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaIWhUw1kuMKufv8nLRTMKcXzf7xzD1BXAGk9tcbz0yrGb1jCgD0cFDpiNK_1ijGttTgiOaumwyRq4n8pe9ZlyOCCrBkoxUbbqbflilnluWUTEk4IxeIwFhyphenhyphenx_FQSBJbqRSYV8_VdyrlY/s1600/little_fuzzy_ace.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="550" data-original-width="335" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaIWhUw1kuMKufv8nLRTMKcXzf7xzD1BXAGk9tcbz0yrGb1jCgD0cFDpiNK_1ijGttTgiOaumwyRq4n8pe9ZlyOCCrBkoxUbbqbflilnluWUTEk4IxeIwFhyphenhyphenx_FQSBJbqRSYV8_VdyrlY/s1600/little_fuzzy_ace.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I love revelations like this one and just thought I would share it in case anyone else would get a kick out of it too. <br />

It's been almost six months since I finished painting a miniature and updated the blog, but I never stopped wanting to get back on schedule. So here I am with a miniature I managed to finish this weekend.<br />
<br />
He's the "Salamander with Sword and Shield" from the<a href="https://goblinkomegamall.com/collections/dungeon-degenerates/products/dungeon-degenerates-monster-miniatures-set"> Dungeon Degenerates Monster Miniatures Set</a>. Despite the name, he looks like an overgrown Lizardman to me and not the classic D&D salamander.<br />

These figures are ostensibly 32mm in scale but seem like they might even be a bit bigger than that. This fellow is on a 40mm base. Here is a picture comparing him to a D&D pre-painted miniature for an idea of scale.</div>

After running games behind the DM screen for years now, I'm psyched to be playing again. Here's the crew: <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjW3B2VU33syJdPD2N9jWQslSjsE-C5PqiEcHfVuJMRqJ03cKX212AKP0JTmxNFD1L1L4Uhj9RkmYHvsm0fV-sEzpTmVxlkk3-TwE21PYoTmZLtRciYC69nqyRefadjWW8UgJMJMOalIUg/s1600/gw+crew.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="296" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjW3B2VU33syJdPD2N9jWQslSjsE-C5PqiEcHfVuJMRqJ03cKX212AKP0JTmxNFD1L1L4Uhj9RkmYHvsm0fV-sEzpTmVxlkk3-TwE21PYoTmZLtRciYC69nqyRefadjWW8UgJMJMOalIUg/s640/gw+crew.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Golgotha is a "Giant" Android. Giant in quotes because she could really use a slightly larger mini to represent her 8' height. This figure is Reaper's "Incredible Woman" (<a href="http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/incredible%20woman/latest/50212">50212</a>) painted with mostly silver and gold metallic paints.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguEOCUpLAMa64nNzPsiQyrG4IVAJ1eW4m-RVeaqaGjqfeQZHpCodNm3SYANOn1YDb4vHpy-9drOp8NHJi2eyIbbC6uC9bimKkCs2griZjZHt06L1rp-wixQYoYqkSj3R0ZxjeL56XBAAM/s1600/gol+gotha.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguEOCUpLAMa64nNzPsiQyrG4IVAJ1eW4m-RVeaqaGjqfeQZHpCodNm3SYANOn1YDb4vHpy-9drOp8NHJi2eyIbbC6uC9bimKkCs2griZjZHt06L1rp-wixQYoYqkSj3R0ZxjeL56XBAAM/s400/gol+gotha.jpg" width="285" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Next up is my character: Proty, who is a Gelatinous Electrokinetic. This figure is Ganesha Games/Alternative Armies' <a href="http://www.alternative-armies.com/products/sux020-plasmoid">"Plasmoid Exterminator"</a> from their recent Project Simian X kickstarter. (The mini was clearly intended to be a Star Frontiers Dralasite. I have two more of them, which I might paint in the classic grey for that race at some point.)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwku09fxayw3JZHCBwyTwo9BbsmkH3RJmWrrItyICKtrRZaL-u_jlI7RaFznJxb8xf9lXTYm9jHSP2yT0WofxMj3OC7i_L4cGwa4zAzpIIdo31PMcwUhUbjorEtN4pfLC2Z_fUiNZ8myo/s1600/pro+ty.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwku09fxayw3JZHCBwyTwo9BbsmkH3RJmWrrItyICKtrRZaL-u_jlI7RaFznJxb8xf9lXTYm9jHSP2yT0WofxMj3OC7i_L4cGwa4zAzpIIdo31PMcwUhUbjorEtN4pfLC2Z_fUiNZ8myo/s400/pro+ty.jpg" width="323" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcMf5ohuXDOtmPtElVue47BDnVV4IzHpmF5WUhiVjqWf9HOR7zfGU3YAzWfRftwLrYSmoAonr6tWN8eDgMgFYoJPsYYm3gE3ljUJBpyeKD6OXD6Ko5NBJt91OBST1_kL7-wtVO7oTW-98/s1600/pro+ty+backview.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcMf5ohuXDOtmPtElVue47BDnVV4IzHpmF5WUhiVjqWf9HOR7zfGU3YAzWfRftwLrYSmoAonr6tWN8eDgMgFYoJPsYYm3gE3ljUJBpyeKD6OXD6Ko5NBJt91OBST1_kL7-wtVO7oTW-98/s400/pro+ty+backview.jpg" width="372" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<br />
Amadeus Redbutt is a Simian Mindbreaker, whose player described him as looking like an orangutan. I used a miniature from Dreamblade called the "Rainforest Shaman." Dreamblade figures are notoriously tough to remove from their bases and I had to sculpt him a new rock stand on.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCqu5zrhsmmKmVzycorEVIb52gIGwaSCot0QdSic81L7Uz13kpqxd42Y-lKUK7qnWgfP__bY2MblfhrapUA5-VIIuE97Nw6xLB7TrRIuCES8M6TN4vZ1rzkv_Hydtl94RRvqwE63iwReI/s1600/amadeus+redbutt.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCqu5zrhsmmKmVzycorEVIb52gIGwaSCot0QdSic81L7Uz13kpqxd42Y-lKUK7qnWgfP__bY2MblfhrapUA5-VIIuE97Nw6xLB7TrRIuCES8M6TN4vZ1rzkv_Hydtl94RRvqwE63iwReI/s400/amadeus+redbutt.jpg" width="263" /></a></div>
<br />
And the fourth character is Rybot, a Felinoid Android. I used a Wildcat Heroclix figure and repainted him with some metallic silver accents and pink eyes.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi83TURintBn0986wd4d1O7jtOAHONIgkZY7P8GSpjVPxPiDhRtWNq5Cz6wdWdYPpD8IFp1K2EivJzWavFM4aY4PvE3ub1MYY3Wy7FyV4mLtVzIIU73jShI-7At2_jUOs4pptIdqhopPrQ/s1600/rybot.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi83TURintBn0986wd4d1O7jtOAHONIgkZY7P8GSpjVPxPiDhRtWNq5Cz6wdWdYPpD8IFp1K2EivJzWavFM4aY4PvE3ub1MYY3Wy7FyV4mLtVzIIU73jShI-7At2_jUOs4pptIdqhopPrQ/s400/rybot.jpg" width="305" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Unrelated to the group, I also rebased a Heroclix Aleph, and then just added a couple washes, and repainted his eyes. He makes a pretty good evil robot.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXT4u7u0lmDxs3r7rNjPdkoXaFQ2Q7lpXRAeChVll67V6tTpKs5kPJHMhyw17_hNm1KOBfxsRDP2uyzo3OLAyLj8tE6a30lkR3ZV3oIoIj1y8JVY3mEdr3GSudnLLXC2RqwUzB2W6uhGE/s1600/aleph.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXT4u7u0lmDxs3r7rNjPdkoXaFQ2Q7lpXRAeChVll67V6tTpKs5kPJHMhyw17_hNm1KOBfxsRDP2uyzo3OLAyLj8tE6a30lkR3ZV3oIoIj1y8JVY3mEdr3GSudnLLXC2RqwUzB2W6uhGE/s400/aleph.jpg" width="235" /></a></div>
<br />
That's it for now. Happy New Year!<br />

I haven't posted a miniature since August. But I'm back and hopefully back on schedule. Here is my latest mini: <a href="http://www.miniatures-workshop.com/lostminiswiki/index.php?title=Fantasy_Monsters_%28Asgard%29">Asgard Miniatures </a>FM8 Gargoyle. There is something I love about Asgard's crude yet weirdly appealing sculpts. I realize that this figure was intended to be a gargoyle, but I couldn't bring myself to paint him grey (or brown?) so instead I turned him into some kind of weird blue demon. I tried to blend from red to purple to blue on his skin. <br />

I'm reasonably happy with this figure. I didn't realize how noticeable the gash on the left side of his stomach was until I was happily painting away. If I had noticed it earlier, perhaps I would have filled it with a bit of green stuff before priming. Oh well. <br />
<br />
I have lots of minis primed and based and waiting for me to paint, so hopefully I will be back soon. Stay tuned.xredmenacexhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05563256821189993925noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8784945416043068747.post-31572720824493997692016-09-26T21:34:00.000-04:002016-10-03T17:25:52.364-04:00Drawings but No MinisUnfortunately, I haven't finished any miniatures this month, but rather than skip my monthly posting entirely, I thought I'd share a couple of quick fantasy-related drawings I did: a "ratling" and a "fishoid."<br />

Unfortunately, I only have one yeti mini so I grabbed a Sasquatch Heroclix figure out of my pile and painted him in tints of blue. A quick job of mostly drybrushing, but I figured why not take a pic and share him on the blog. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimMeac42Gvg5GCazCHL6OKJ2-7qKC5kMfhq2_4wpdAOQ_wqJH4WYuvAzL8YN-ltdVc34Pgw4lKWPakIqmz2jcyzbmTfaA4AaKvYJoiYhB-d3GtIOyM7pC0R6O2eYKSnJ9AgRiMlMPj4NY/s1600/yeti.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="390" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimMeac42Gvg5GCazCHL6OKJ2-7qKC5kMfhq2_4wpdAOQ_wqJH4WYuvAzL8YN-ltdVc34Pgw4lKWPakIqmz2jcyzbmTfaA4AaKvYJoiYhB-d3GtIOyM7pC0R6O2eYKSnJ9AgRiMlMPj4NY/s400/yeti.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
He doesn't really "match" my Reaper Miniatures yeti (seen below) but he'll be better than using a counter or paper mini or something. <br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.coolminiornot.com/76705"><img alt="http://www.coolminiornot.com/76705" border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhebVoYEdu7WH5g33QKR-juOlE81niSChKC6Szr0lK2hPyGnRxNKtnZxfpOb-BQeMewXQkjYHD010TNqBzF7U74uYNR5WT9dsw4RP9H3R23v3kxLC-ZhEv9b5-x4KyNq6T5puH38o1u3Cs/s1600/img41d236cc30d51.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
This Reaper yeti was actually one of the first miniatures I painted as an adult. I can't believe it was almost 12 years ago now. The paint on his chest got a little thick (I was using artists' tube paints at the time) but overall I'm still pretty happy with him.<br />
<br />
Hope to post again soon with something I put more time into. Stay tuned.xredmenacexhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05563256821189993925noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8784945416043068747.post-69614430227741734912016-07-20T23:11:00.000-04:002016-07-20T23:13:50.368-04:00Teenage Mutant Ninja TurtlesI feel like these took forever to finish, but here's what I've been up to: painting Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Heroclix!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5Qu4CBg_uZWvLMjvOScp5ZtxpgbSutdYM7ls6PTRBwcrJoT7LBodp13TpNsVOxTtycw6wIfyyYNoKaEoiRZJgOgxwQFW1CgvTEBSgFGbUP9hFJagcD3ElaHWu6dlnR5VA6_CHgAJOOzI/s1600/turtles-smaller.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="233" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5Qu4CBg_uZWvLMjvOScp5ZtxpgbSutdYM7ls6PTRBwcrJoT7LBodp13TpNsVOxTtycw6wIfyyYNoKaEoiRZJgOgxwQFW1CgvTEBSgFGbUP9hFJagcD3ElaHWu6dlnR5VA6_CHgAJOOzI/s640/turtles-smaller.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>

I've wanted decent miniatures of these guys for a long time. The old <a href="http://www.miniatures-workshop.com/lostminiswiki/index.php?title=Teenage_Mutant_Ninja_Turtles">Dark Horse figures</a> are somewhat hard to come by and can be rather expensive on Ebay, so when Heroclix recently put out a set based on TMNT, I had to to jump on it. I'm pretty happy with these guys. I tried to paint each one's skin with slightly different greens for variety. I debated painting the bandanas different colors but decided to go with the classic red. I used this Kevin Eastman illustration for inspiration.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here's how they looked when I got them. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrt1QGvU0pqqXu7ItuHBTQvKnn41e8TqQpQ_Qm7OK8lrgQtVRQ-fij4SfUKS6XEUKd2JkWx38FFfhbyDAnsHMzTpJaIHFCw-Wr88I94MF3d9b_-9zHZPpk93u5AExNUOLT5K3rV93r3kU/s1600/all+before.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrt1QGvU0pqqXu7ItuHBTQvKnn41e8TqQpQ_Qm7OK8lrgQtVRQ-fij4SfUKS6XEUKd2JkWx38FFfhbyDAnsHMzTpJaIHFCw-Wr88I94MF3d9b_-9zHZPpk93u5AExNUOLT5K3rV93r3kU/s640/all+before.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I pinned them onto Secret Weapon "Town Square" bases. I like these bases for superhero-type figures in general and sewer manhole covers really sealed the deal for the Turtles.<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
I thought I would also share that I played a really fun Land of the Lost themed game using Golgo Island rules and the <a href="http://menaceminis.blogspot.com/2014/12/sleestaks.html">Sleestak</a> and <a href="http://menaceminis.blogspot.com/2015/07/tag-industries-chimps-and-apes-finished.html">"Pakuni"</a> miniatures you may remember from my past blog entries. (I can't believe I painted these Sleestaks all the way back in 2014.) Good times.<br />

<br />
This gnome is from <a href="http://www.miniatures-workshop.com/lostminiswiki/index.php?title=Dungeon_Dwellers_Figure_Sets#1239">Dungeon Dwellers</a> set 1239, which apparently came with three of these figures and three with a spear. They were sculpted by Steve Bissett. <br />

The Grenadier figure is from <a href="http://www.miniatures-workshop.com/lostminiswiki/index.php?title=AD%26D_-_Small_Figure_Sets">AD&D set</a> 2003 "Dwarves," which came out around 1980, if I'm not mistaken. I chose him for his gnome-like hat, as I intend to have him stand in for a gnome.<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwdzgfwfPv_k-NJfYUq_S-RmJmTpeTyWlSpUkgFrCi7loZJjNqvZcapdMBJrvsrUiTq89wUZPSq5e0etT0EhGmLr3VTsgbJzkNk6nllDLcyI_wLwaLu24fknOIYsUwXZNj9z8dmLRzWOw/s1600/both+ducks.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="252" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwdzgfwfPv_k-NJfYUq_S-RmJmTpeTyWlSpUkgFrCi7loZJjNqvZcapdMBJrvsrUiTq89wUZPSq5e0etT0EhGmLr3VTsgbJzkNk6nllDLcyI_wLwaLu24fknOIYsUwXZNj9z8dmLRzWOw/s400/both+ducks.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I was curious about Archive miniatures' duck figures. They always seemed like an odd choice to me, but recently I have been reading the old Steve Gerber Howard the Duck comics (which are pretty great in their own wacky way) and it all made sense. This "devil duck" that I've had in my collection for a while is clearly based on the comic.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8A-pQGt-yyNG-bzbN4yHg5UIl3YbB2z7je0z8MpN6NcFZV09JJQCoUhqXAyT1zihOzWBFPh-QCcStVnNlHmoXjJDERPoi1DeSgscMjhZX_JTzLpyHGhlsBt9OmQB-QrrQ9SBOHz4-KnI/s1600/howard+and+devil.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8A-pQGt-yyNG-bzbN4yHg5UIl3YbB2z7je0z8MpN6NcFZV09JJQCoUhqXAyT1zihOzWBFPh-QCcStVnNlHmoXjJDERPoi1DeSgscMjhZX_JTzLpyHGhlsBt9OmQB-QrrQ9SBOHz4-KnI/s400/howard+and+devil.jpg" width="343" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So I grabbed a Howard the Duck Heroclix figure and painted the two of them up.</div>
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here's what Howard looked like before I cut him off his base:</div>

<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I painted him to match the colors of the original comics run. The only major difference from the early issues is that he didn't have pants until Disney threatened to sue Marvel due to similarities with Donald Duck.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
I really struggled with this figure for some reason. Part of it is likely the coarse sculpting. The eyes for example are such deep holes that I couldn't do much but poke in some blue paint.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
So this figure is actually Howard himself possessed by the demonic side of Daimon Hellstrom. I tried to keep the colors faithful to the comic. I did give him red horns which he only has on the cover. I just thought he looked better that way. </div>
